Tall Texas Tales

In case you haven't already seen the email with Tall Texas Tales, here it is on the blog:

THOSE TALL TEXAS TALES

Now gather 'round people, I'll sing you a song
How Amy and Esker have lasted so long.
It started in Bisbee when a young Texan boy
Came with his brother in search of employ.
Amy was working for a dollar a day
Staying with Farrell and Margaret they say.
One day when Farrell returned home from work
He brought home the two Texans, Esker and Curt.

It didn't take long for those Texans to see
Margaret's young sister's as cute as can be.
She's level headed and just the right size
Little pug nose and pretty brown eyes.
"They sure are well mannered", Miss Busby confessed,
"The problem's deciding which one I like best."
Curt is quite handsome, a fine looking male,
But Esker has wooed me with tall Texas tales."

Their dates were all simple and then on the sly
'Cuz Mom and Pop Busby weren't sure of this guy.
He wasn't a Mormon, but he wasn't bad
And Amy had plans of converting this lad.
He didn't drink whiskey, he didn't tell lies.
She took him to church and soon he was baptized.
It wasn't long after that they tied the know.
It's been fifty years now and that's quite a lot.

Well, living and loving filled those fifty years
With good times and hard times and laughter and tears.
They made prayer a habit and taught their three boys
That living the gospel brings nothing but joys.
And that is the secret to lasting so long,
Why Amy and Esker just couldn't go wrong.
Now on through the ages together they'll sail
With Esker still telling those tall Texas tales.

Chorus: Oh those tall Texas tales,
Oh those tall Texas tales,
Now on through the ages together they'll sail,
With Esker still telling those tall Texas tales,
OOOOOOh those tall Texas tales . . . .
